AWP hearts the environment.  So we donated a website to the first DPS conference ever to go green.

Making an Impact

You may have read in our ethics section that we try to support worthy causes any way we can.  In this case, we donated time and experience to make a website dedicated to the first Division of Planetary Sciences (DPS) conference to adopt environmentally-friendly initiatives.

The Division of Planetary sciences is a sub-section of the American Astronomical Society, and their annual conference is moves from year to year.  This time, it's right here in Ithaca, NY, and we had an opportunity to help.

Looks Matter

Nothing helps a group's credibility like a website backed by strong design.  Since this is the first year the DPS is adopting green-friendly policies, we wanted the idea to resonate with the attendees.  The site is bold and focused, with a clear mission statement and simplified navigation.  We collaborated closely with the Green Conferencing Committee to develop out the site's structure, content, and feel.  The result is a perfect example of our collaborative process.

Custom Programming

Looks sometimes aren't enough.  So we built a fully-functional web application to assist conference participants in sharing rides.  We built it from the ground-up using the latest web technologies, with a focus on ease-of-use and performance.  RSS feeds, AJAX interaction, integrated Google Maps, user authentication, it's all there.  And really, this is just the tip of the iceberg of what we can do here at AWP.

Launched on June 2nd, 2008.
